Hello Guys i’m

Toby Hederics

“The Dakar is the ultimate challenge and adventure you can do on a motorcycle. I’m a desert racer for Australia and the dream of racing Dakar has always been there. I grew up watching my dad race rallies. Motorsport is in my blood. My main races where the Finke Desert race and Hattah desert race here in Australia and I also raced the Australian off road championship regularly. My first goal is to finish, after that who knows.”

About me

Toby Hederics was destined for the Dakar, growing up as the son of Australian off-road legend John “Hedge” Hederics, often referred to as Australia’s Stephane Peterhansel. John’s legacy includes winning the gruelling Sydney to Darwin Safari three times in a row, setting a high bar for his son to follow.

Toby spent his childhood on a farm in Victoria, with acres of land that became his training ground from the age of three. Two years ago, he set his sights on the Dakar and began working towards his dream. After competing in local rallies in Australia, he tested his skills internationally at the Rallye du Maroc in 2023, where he impressed by finishing as the best rookie, earning him a free entry to the Dakar. This year, he further honed his preparation at the Desafío Ruta 40 in Argentina.

At 29, Toby enters his first Dakar with the primary goal of finishing, but many believe he could be one of the rally’s biggest surprises. Dubbed the “new Toby on the block” following the retirement of Dakar champion Toby Price, he carries the hopes of Australian fans into the rally. A landscaper by trade, Hederics will compete on a KTM prepared by the BAS World Racing Team, ready to make his mark on the world’s toughest race.
